The Memorial Site of the Krzyżowa Foundation cultivates the memory of the resistance movements and opposition against totalitarian regimes in the 20th century. We show the history of groups and individuals who risked their lives to protect freedom, dignity and human rights.
The Memorial Site is, first of all, an academic workshop for innovative and creative communing with history. It is not a museum but a meeting and discussion place, a place of shared reflection on history and future. It enables the guests of the European Academy and the International Youth Meeting Centre to use the library, to see an exhibition dedicated to resistance movements and actions against the dictatorships of the 20th century and to take place in seminars.
The centre of the Memorial Site is the House on the Hill (Dom na Wzgórzu), renovated after 1990. The von Moltke family lived here since 1928; in 1942/43, meetings of the Kreisau Circle took place in this house.
Apart from the living quarters, there are guest rooms for grant holders, the office of the Memorial Site, a library, a reading room, a seminar room and the Hall of Memory.
