The main tenet of the work of the European Academy is the assumption that in order to build a democratic Europe, it is absolutely necessary to be receptive to other worlds, so different as the East and the West. It is a big challenge, for the totalitarian dictatorships of the 20th century have left a huge gap between Eastern and Western Europe. The European Academy, inspired by the openness of the Kreisau Circle, participates in the process of bridge-building.
The work of the Academy, which is directed mainly to adults, is supported by the European Academy Committee, appointed by the Krzy¿owa Foundation Board.
Our aims:
- active participation in the all-European process of uniting;
- creating the conditions necessary for integrating various social, cultural, religious and political outlooks;
- strengthening personal responsibility and civil courage;
- shaping regional identity;
- helping to adjust to changing social and economic conditions;
- participating in building social respect for the law-governed state.
We pursue our aims by:
- organising international conferences on
- social, political and cultural issues of the contemporary Europe;
- Polish-German agreement;
- dialogue between the East and the West;
- transmitting the European thought heritage of the Kreisau Circle;
- organising seminars and educational trips;
- supporting regional cooperation of economic, academic, political and cultural organisations;
- promoting knowledge about the European Union;
- trainings and workshops for different professional and social groups.
