The main idea of previous meetings were the European experience of living in a dictatorship, the wrongs suffered and their effects. The reason for taking this year's topic was the appeal of the International Memorial Association in Russia in 2008 “About national images of the past”, which enables understanding of European history. During 10th Seminar, we will discuss, among others, the subject of the narrative of national history of the twentieth century in the Czech Republic 20 years after the turn (Ondřej Matějka, director of Antikomplex association from Prague). Prof. dr Jörg Baberowski from the Department of East European History at Humboldt University in Berlin will talk about Soviet memory on Stalinism. During the Seminar, we will recall the figure of our Friend Ludwig Mehlhorn- there will be a presentation of a book “Live in the truth. Ludwig Mehlhorn”, published by Stephan Bickhardt (publication will appear in March 2012). We would like to invite all interested! Participants of this year’s Seminar of Places of Memory will concentrate on the subject of great historical narratives of the twentieth century in Europe and in the nation states. In March, a jubilee meeting will take place in Krzyżowa.|
