“Krzyżowa” Foundation together with High School in Budzow, school in Königstein and Daetz Foundation are beginning a common project Comenius this year, which aims to bring closer the neighbors- Germans and Poles.
As it turns out, despite the neighborhood proximity, we know a little about each other- our minds are full of false stereotypes which shape our beliefs, which in turn affect our thoughts and actions. These actions affect the relations between nations, which have not always been good. To change this, we start from our backyard, from our children and young people because their minds and beliefs are still being formed. As a part of Comenius project, educational models about Germany will be prepared and introduced in the five testing schools. These modules will be included into the course schedule and will be connected to everyday classes. They will be prepared by Polish and German teachers, they will be also consulted with students. Interesting and useful topics will be used in didactic work and will be introduced into the school in Lower Silesia and in the whole country. Such modules about Poles, Turks, Hindus and other nationalities are already present in Germany for several years. Thanks to them, youth can get to know neighbors, their culture, understand why they are different and how similar to them, often contrary to their beliefs. This program will be an interesting experience for students and teachers and will have a positive influence on their development.
Patronage of the project took Beata Pawłowicz, Lower Silesian School Superintendent.
