„From the war over border to good neighbourhood” – this is the title of International Academic Conference Colloquium Opole 2011, where representants of academic and culture worlds from Poland, Germany and Czech Republic will meet. The main topic of the meeting in Silesian Institute in Opole will be the relations between Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. Krzyzowa Foundation will also participate in this meeting and share its view on neighbouring countries. Organisers of the conference are: National Scientific Institute- Silesian Institute in Opole and Silesian Museum in Görlitz. The main aim of this meeting is to make the participants familiar with the realtions between these 3 neighbour countries beginning from the 20s. During the first session „Minorities in the extreme age 1921-1991“ prof. Jiri Friedl will talk on Poles living in the Czech Republic till 1989 and prof. Piotr Madajczuk will analise the situation of the German in Poland. During the next part connected with good-neighbourly treaties prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz, among others, will present Polish and German historical policy after 1989. During the third part „About Polish-German relations“ Annemarie Franke, Executive Director of Krzyzowa Foundation will introduce the participants to Krzyzowa’s perspective on Polish-German relations, which is a view from a unique place on the map of Polish-German reconciliation. There also will be many papers on „ Transnational economic cooperation“ and discussion about the perspectives of minorities.
