Relation. Coffee with ambassador PDF Print E-mail
After 22 years, Rüdiger von Fritsch, current German ambassador in Poland, has come to Krzyżowa. He met with board of ”Krzyżowa” Foundation and its employees in the Ballroom at the Palace.

With coffee and delicious pastries of Spichlerz Hotel, Ambassador was recalling preparations for the Mass of Reconciliation in 1989. After years, he could openly admit how anxious he was while preparing meeting of chancellor Helmuth Kohl and prime minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki. He also listened with a great curiosity to employees and volunteers, who were talking about their work at Foundation.

Rüdiger von Fritsch came to Lower Silesia on the invitation of Willy Brandt Centre of German and European Studies of Wroclaw University and Institute of German Philology on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the State University of Wroclaw. Presidents of Poland, Germany and Ukraine were present at this meeting as well. The pretext for the meeting with Rüdiger von Fritsch was also the book of his authorship “Tom’s case. Escape in Germany ”/ „Die Sache mit Tom. Eine Flucht in Deutschland”. In this book, Rüdiger von Fritsch tells the story of his cousin and two friends’ escape from the GDR by Bulgaria and Turkey to the FRG in 1974, of which he was organizer.

Rüdiger von Fritsch (born on 28th December 1953 in Siegen) is a Germanist and historian, he has been working for German diplomatic service since 1984. Since July 2010, he has been the German ambassador in Poland.
