On the occasion of 20th anniversary of concluding Polish-German Treaty of Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation from year 1991, on June 21st in Warsaw Governments of Poland and Germany signed common declaration “Neighbours and partners”.
Many common projects, which are to intensify a collaboration between these two countries, were enclosed in the program of Polish-German co-operation. Actions undertook by ”Krzyzowa” Foundation were appreciated and emphasized in the 5th point “Civil society and social issues”: activity of the "Krzyzowa" Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe has an essential meaning for Polish-German relations. We intend to engage in a special way in maintenance and development of “Krzyzowa” Foundation and International Youth Meeting Place conducted by the foundation. On the occasion of 20th anniversary of concluding Treaty, German Bundestag passed a resolution “Germany and Poland- responsibility resultant from history, future in Europe”. This document was commonly enacted by German parties SPD, FDP, CDU/CSU and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (The Green) and it emphasizes meaning of Polish-German reconciliation process and close co-operation between these two countries in European Union. “Krzyzowa” Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe became appreciated as one of the institutions which have important contribution to the discussion of Polish and German youth about history. In document there were also stressed some specific political actions which are to develop Polish-German relations, among others: (…) special support and deepening co-operation between Polish-German Youth Partnership and French-German Youth Partnership referring to Weimar Triangle and extending range of actions and enterprises of Polish-German Youth Partnership and preservation perspectives for further development of International Youth Meeting Places in Krzyzowa and Oswiecim. We truly support this appeal and at the same time we are really glad that our actions became appreciated on the international level. |
