In 2009 the programme 'Volunteers in Preservation of Garden Monuments' has begun. Each year 14 volunteers from Germany and Poland come and work in four parks. In Poland the St. Hedwigs Foundation in Morawa, Gronow Palace (approx. 8 km from Görlitz/Zgorzelec) and the Krzyzowa Foundation act as hosts, in Germany the volunteers work in Altdöbern. The project is realised in close co-operation with the ijgd Brandenburg.

The participants will be able to further specify their future career and at the same time work in neglected but historically important gardens and parks, adding their share to restoring them to their former glory. Through their work the participants will become familiar with the historical, social and economic foundations of the region Lower Silesia.
