Project will be accomplished in the second half of 2012. First young people taking part in the international youth exchange will stay there in autumn. According to the plans, the ground floor in the Gardener’s House will be constructed using the latest technologies and renewable sources of energy. The whole building will be monitored in a very precise way and results will be presented on the internet. First floor will be maintained in a conventional way. Future guests will come across the most modern solutions, e.g. hybrid power generation system, solar panels heating water, rain water recycling system, ground heat exchanger and many other ecological solutions. There will a computer suite with internet access. Multimedia resources such as computers, cameras, headphones and speakers will make studying and revising easier and will help students learn about new IT solutions. The upgraded infrastructure will be more accessible to disabled people. Rooms in the building and toilets will be easily accessible to people on wheelchairs. The main objective of creating the Centre for Ecological Education in Krzyżowa is to provide a place where young people can learn about renewable energy, limiting carbon dioxide emission and preservation of natural environment. Young people are becoming ‘the engine’ of the region. That is why transferring the knowledge about the natural environment, promoting ecological approaches and teaching about available solutions to protect nature is so important. Modernization of the "House of the Gardener" at International Youth Meeting Place in Krzyżowa supported by Federal Republic of Germany, represented by Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ), pursuant to a resolution of German Bundestag. Financial support: the Regional Operational Programme of the Lower Silesia Province. More information: Rafał Ciućka (rc@krzyzowa.org.pl)
