Freya von Moltke (maiden name Deichmann), wife of Helmuth James Graf von Moltke and a member of the Kreisau Circle – a german group in oppostion to the Nazi government, was born on 29 March 1911. From 1990 on Freya von Moltke was as honorary chair of the Foundation’s governing body involved in international youth exchange and in promoting the Kreisau Circle heritage. Even today she is considered to be the Foundation’s good soul.

To celebrate Freya’s 100th birthday the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe has organised a competition for the most interesting literary work for school children from the region of Lower Silesia. In that way the Foundation wanted to draw young people’s attention to one of the most significant persons in the process of building the Polish – German understanding.

The assumption is not to limit the participants’ creativeness in any way. Participants have full freedom as to what literary form to choose, it can be a short story, a poem, a review, a report, an essay or any other.

Awards:

3 participants will be awarded.

The chosen participants will receive:

1st prize – participation in one of the international art projects organized by the Krzyżowa Foundation (participation in all activities, accommodation and food).
2nd and 3rd prize – books and a film about Freya von Moltke

The chosen works will be published on the Krzyżowa Foundation website.
