Regional ecology and ‘zero emission’ are two main themes of the “Travelling university” project. It is an interdisciplinary seminar that is aimed at students of the Environment Campus at Birkenfeld, also called the ‘zero emission’ campus.

As a part of this year’s ecological activities in the International Youth Meeting House students worked on the strategy of ‘zero emission’. During the research students concentrated on compiling documentation regarding the use of renewable sources of energy and saving electricity in the International Youth Meeting House. They analyzed the renovation projects of the buildings and  discussed optimization of the sewage plant. They also tryed to estimate the possibility of introducing new ecological solutions in Krzyżowa from a legal and economical point of view and discussed the criteria of obtaining financial support to accomplish this project.
On the basis of the result of the research and their observations students created the strategy of ‘zero emission’ for the region and a plan of developing a Centre for Renewable Energy in Krzyżowa.
